Canine Training Director

Peter brings over thirty years of dog training experience to the team.  Although he has a vast knowledge and understanding in all areas of canine behaviour and training his main passion is for scent work. He is an Australasian Working Dog Judge and has judged trials in both NZ and Australia.

Peter spent ten years handling and training biosecurity detection dogs for the Ministry of Primary Industries, he has also trained several detection dogs for the Department of Conservation. He has been involved in the training of Search & Rescue Dogs and has trained many dogs to detect items such as reptiles, birds, eggs, truffles, Asian gypsy moth, explosives and drugs. He has handled detection dogs in joint operations with NZ Customs, NZ Navy and the Australian Navy, he remains the only NZ dog handler to have worked a detection dog on both Air Force One and Air Force Two.

Peter is an avid golfer so when not working with dogs he can be found on the golf course – any golf course.
